Mr Ioannis Goutos is an internationally recognised expert on scar management offering an extensive portfolio ranging from non invasive treatments to complex surgical reconstruction.

He undertook his undergraduate degree and basic surgical training in London and subsequently joined the specialist plastic surgery pathway in the Oxford Deanery. His commitment to the field of burn care and scar management took him further afield completing fellowships programmes in India, Nepal, South America, as well as Japan working alongside authorities in the field. Mr Goutos’ consultant career commenced at the Royal London Hospital, where he spearheaded the development of the burn service and contributed to the expansion of the tertiary scar management referral centre.

He is a member of the British Medical Association (BMA), British and European Burn Association (BBA and EBA), British Medical Laser Association (BMLA) as well as the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAPRAS). Alongside his busy clinical practice, he has leading academic position at Queen Mary University of London as the Director of the Plastic Surgery Academic programmes.

Mr Goutos has unparalleled expertise in the treatment of challenging scar subtypes including keloid and burn scars and most frequently incorporates highly specialised surgical revision techniques alongside injectables and laser modalities to achieve outstanding results for his patients. His training and internationally recognised work have led to him being considered a leading thought expert in scar management.
